Link Shortener

What every short link tracks

Each click is logged before the visitor is redirected, and the link's analytics page breaks the clicks down so you can see which post, profile or campaign actually sends traffic.

Countries and cities

Where each click came from, looked up from the visitor's IP address.

Browsers

Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and others, so you know how people open your links.

Operating systems

Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, a quick read on desktop versus phone traffic.

Referrers

The page that sent the click, or Direct when the app or browser doesn't share one.

Clicks per day

A daily chart of visits, so a spike lines up with the post or story that caused it.

Recent visits

The latest 50 clicks with their location, browser, system and referrer.

How to create a tracked short link

  1. Open Links in OutReply and choose the brand the link belongs to.
  2. Paste the destination URL and give the link a name you'll recognise later.
  3. On a paid plan, type a custom back-half such as spring-sale; otherwise an 8-character code is created.
  4. Copy the short link into your post, bio, DM or email and watch the clicks arrive.

Ways to use it on social

Compare networks

Create one short link per network for the same landing page. The click counts show which audience actually visits, not just which one likes.

Track bio and button clicks

Use short links on your link in bio page buttons to see which button gets tapped.

Fix a link after posting

Point an existing short link at a new URL when a page moves or a promo ends, without editing a post that's already live.

Link shortener FAQ

What does an OutReply short link look like?

outreply.com/short/ followed by an 8-character code, or by your own custom back-half on a paid plan, for example outreply.com/short/spring-sale.

What click data do I get?

Total clicks, clicks per day, country, city, browser, operating system and referrer for every link, plus the latest 50 individual visits.

Can I change where a short link points after sharing it?

Yes. Edit the link and replace the destination URL. The short link stays the same, so posts and bios that already use it keep working.

How many short links can I create?

Free allows 2 per brand, Advanced 50 per brand and Elite 10,000 per brand. Custom back-halves are available on paid plans.

Can I shorten links that have UTM parameters?

Yes. The destination can be any http or https URL, including one tagged with UTM parameters from our free UTM builder, so Google Analytics and OutReply both see the click.
