Engagement rate calculator
Turn your post metrics into a rate you can explain.
Your post metrics
Use one post, or matching per-post averages. Enter 0 for no likes or comments.
Your follower count at the time of the post.
Compare with your usual rate
Use the same base, interaction types, format and measurement period.
Your result

A rate measures interactions relative to your chosen base. It is not the percentage of unique people who engaged.
Same post. Different question.
180 likes + 24 comments + 15 shares + 31 saves = 250 interactions.
An illustrative post has 10,000 followers and reaches 6,250 accounts.
Make the numbers useful
Which engagement rate formula should I use?
Divide interactions by your chosen base, then multiply by 100. Followers compares interactions with account size. Reach uses unique accounts reached. Impressions counts displays, including repeats. Views uses the platform’s reported video or post views. Always name the base when sharing a rate.
Which interactions belong in the calculation?
Start with likes or reactions and comments. Include shares, saves or clicks only when you have those metrics and want to count them. A blank optional field is excluded. Keep your selection consistent: platform dashboards and third-party tools may count different actions, so their displayed rates can differ.
Can I calculate a rate for several posts?
For a per-post comparison, use matching per-post averages across the same set of posts and state the period. For a pooled reach-, impressions- or views-based rate, divide total interactions by the sum of that base across those posts. Do not use deduplicated account-wide reach as though it were summed post reach. An average of individual post rates and a pooled rate are different measures.
What is a good engagement rate?
There is no universal passing score. Compare the same formula and interaction types within a similar platform, format, audience size and period. External studies may use a different sample or measurement method. Your own comparable posts provide a practical starting point; a higher rate alone does not prove more sales or satisfied customers.
Why can the rate be greater than 100%?
Interactions are actions, not unique people. Someone may like, comment and share the same post, and a post may reach people who do not follow the account. Check your counts and measurement period, but a value above 100% is not automatically a calculation error.
Does this tool connect to my social accounts?
No. You enter the metrics and the calculation runs in your browser. The tool does not fetch, verify or publish social account data. Copying creates a plain-text summary with the selected formula and included metrics; it does not save a report to an OutReply workspace.
