What goes into a reply?

Fictional example · illustrative wording

Business fact
We ship to the US and Canada.
Post context
Handmade mugs, sold individually.
Comment
“Can I order one mug to Canada?”
Draft to review

Yes! Our mugs are sold individually, and we ship to Canada.

Uses the supplied facts. Does not promise a delivery date.

Make the answer specific to your business

Set your instructions

Add current business facts, tone and boundaries. Choose rules for comments or messages in AI instructions.

Include useful context

For a comment draft, use the relevant post text and a specific instruction. A post caption gives context; it does not confirm live stock or booking availability.

Review the result

Check facts, names, links and promises. Edit the text yourself or request another draft. Your instructions guide the model; they do not guarantee an accurate answer.

Review each draft

Generate a comment or message reply, make your edits, then send. The Facebook and Instagram comment queue supports reviewing drafts; X and YouTube comments are accessed from a post in the workspace feed.

Configure an automatic reply

On supported events, a workflow can generate a reply and attempt the selected send action. Choose the account, condition and destination, then test matching and non-matching comments before expanding its scope.

Explore workflow setup
Can a workflow leave sensitive comments for a person?

You can branch around an automatic send step when a condition matches. An AI condition can misclassify a complaint, so test mixed and ambiguous examples too. Skipping the send step does not itself assign a teammate or notify someone to review the comment. Arrange that review process with your team.

These fictional examples show how to assess a draft against the information supplied. Open a case to see the context and a possible reply.

Missing availability“Can we book the pottery workshop this Saturday?”
Information supplied
The post says workshops run on Saturdays. No date-specific seats or booking record are supplied.
Possible reply
Our workshops run on Saturdays. Please check the booking page for available dates and spaces.

Review point: Use a verified booking destination if you add a link. Do not confirm seats, reserve a place or invent a booking link from the weekly schedule alone.

A question answered by the post“What camera did you use for this?”
Information supplied
The video caption says: filmed on a phone using natural window light. No phone model or extra equipment is listed.
Possible reply
This was filmed on a phone with natural light from a window.

Review point: The reply can use those supplied details. It should not invent a phone model, lens, filter or sponsorship.

Ambiguous praise“Great, another broken mug. Exactly what I needed.”
Information supplied
The person describes a damaged item. No order record, refund decision or replacement status is supplied.
Possible reply
I’m sorry the mug arrived damaged. Please contact us privately so we can look into the order.

Review point: Read the whole comment rather than treating “Great” as praise. A person should check the order before promising a refund or replacement; do not request personal order details publicly.

Want to try your own wording? The free comment reply generator accepts a comment and context without signup. It creates drafts to copy; it does not connect an account or publish a reply.

Where AI replies are available

Comment drafts

Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube

Message drafts

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp

Workflow events

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp

Facebook uses Pages and Instagram uses professional accounts. WhatsApp uses a Business connection, with automated replies through the workflow’s AI chatbot step. Connection permissions, available events and platform reply rules determine which actions can run.

What about LinkedIn, TikTok and private replies?

Publishing support is separate from reply support. OutReply does not provide LinkedIn or TikTok comment/DM replies here. X and YouTube support comment drafts, not DMs or real-time reply workflows. Instagram and Facebook comment-to-DM actions have their own eligibility limits; a public comment is not a guarantee that a private message can be delivered.

Understand the credit cost

A successful standard comment or message draft generation costs one credit. Requesting an AI rewrite generates another draft; editing the text yourself does not use an AI generation credit.

Illustrative calculation for standard draft generation only. It counts generated drafts, not sent replies.

Free includes 30 monthly credits; Advanced ($30/month) includes 1,300 and Elite ($45/month) includes 2,400. AI conditions and other workflow steps can add costs. Advanced conversation analysis and suggestions require a subscription. See current plan allowances.

AI comment reply FAQ

Does OutReply send every AI reply automatically?

No. Standard inbox drafts are reviewed and sent manually. A separately enabled workflow can generate and attempt to send a reply on a supported event. Generating text is not proof that a platform accepted or delivered it.

Can AI reply to Instagram comments automatically?

Advanced and Elite support automatic workflow triggers for eligible new Instagram and Facebook comments. Configure the condition and send step, then test the outcome. Rules, permissions, platform eligibility and failures can affect delivery; it is not instantaneous or guaranteed.

What information shapes an AI comment reply?

The supplied comment, relevant post text, enabled business instructions and any generation instructions shape the draft. Keep those facts current. The model can still make mistakes and does not independently verify live stock, bookings, order status or promises.

Which platforms support reply drafts?

Comment drafts are available for Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube; message drafts are available for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Reply availability depends on account permissions and platform rules. LinkedIn and TikTok publishing does not include comment or DM replies in OutReply.

What does generating and rewriting a reply cost?

A successful standard comment or message draft generation costs one credit, including a fresh AI rewrite. Manual text edits do not use generation credits. Free includes 30 monthly credits. Workflows with other AI steps and premium conversation tools have additional requirements.

Is the free reply generator the same as a connected inbox?

No. The public generator creates drafts from the comment and context you supply, with free daily uses and no signup. You review and copy the result. Connecting accounts, reviewing account conversations and publishing supported replies happen in the signed-in product.
